Important Notes for Visitors
- Fire restrictions apply to all Lincoln National Forest land surrounding Ruidoso. Village rules may differ within town limits.
- Violating fire restrictions is a Class B misdemeanor with fines up to $5,000 and/or 6 months in jail.
- Fireworks are never permitted on National Forest land, regardless of restriction level.
- Restrictions typically increase from March through June (dry/windy season) and may ease after monsoon rains begin in July.
